Austin_tacious and Pow Shadowz connected in Nashville in the late 90s through mutual, musical friends. They hung out and performed at many of the same open mics, hip hop clubs and warehouse parties before being given a proper introduction. Each of them had strong musical pasts, were completing college degrees, and were active in the underground music scene before their paths converged. During these transitional years in Nashville they worked side by side live and in the studio to form a strong bond. They began forming grass roots alliances with other like minded, independent musicians. In '04 Austin moved to Indiana where he works at Sweetwater Sound as an audio consultant. Pow moved to Southern California in early '06 to further his music and marketing careers. This is still only the beginning. The distance created an urgency that can be heard in the songs. Much of the Kings & Pawns EP was written and recorded in '05 and '06 in Indiana and Nashville when the two would link up for shows or other related projects.
